🧠 What is AIQ?

AIQ is a free, browser-based game that teaches children ages 5-18 how artificial intelligence works. Through 36 interactive lessons across 6 themed worlds, children learn about AI concepts, applications, and ethics - all adapted to their age and developmental level. Think of it as "Duolingo for AI literacy."

🛡️ Safety & Privacy

No account needed to play solo. Children start learning immediately, and progress stays on the device.

Minimal data if a class is joined. Only a nickname, a hashed PIN and lesson progress sync to the server, never an email, real name or photo.

No ads, ever. The app is completely ad-free and will remain so permanently.

No in-app purchases. Everything is free with no paywalls.

No social features. Children cannot interact with other users.

COPPA designed. Built with children's privacy as a core design principle.

⏱️ Screen Time

Each lesson takes 5-15 minutes. The app includes built-in screen time management:

• Ages 5-7: 15-minute gentle break reminder with offline activity suggestions ("Go draw! Read a book! Play outside!")
• Ages 8-10: Designed for 15-20 minute daily sessions
• Ages 11-14: 20-30 minute sessions with natural stopping points
• Ages 15-18: Self-paced with optional break suggestions

The app follows the AAP's "5 C's" framework: prioritizing quality Content, Context, the Child, the Caregiver, and Conversation over rigid time limits.

📚 What Children Learn

The curriculum covers six areas aligned with the AI4K12 framework:

• AI Foundations — What AI is, how it differs from regular software, algorithms
• AI Perception — How computers see, hear, and read text
• Machine Learning — How AI learns from data, neural networks, generative AI
• Real-World AI — AI in healthcare, transport, science, creativity, jobs
• AI Ethics — Bias, privacy, deepfakes, environmental impact, responsibility
• Building with AI — Design thinking, model training, creative projects, careers

The core philosophy is "AI-native, not AI-dependent" — children learn how AI works while reinforcing that they must be able to think, create, and solve problems without it.

5. Complete one lesson per day for best results
