This is the last lesson of the entire AIQ app for every child in your room — treat the opening like the start of a celebration, not like a normal lesson. Big voice, big energy, maybe even a little cheer or clap before you say a single word about the content.
Say, with real excitement: "Boys and girls — I have HUGE news. You did it. You finished ALL of AIQ! 🎉" Pause here and let them cheer, clap, or wiggle — whatever your classroom's version of celebrating is, let it happen for a moment before you continue. Then say: "You know SO much about A.I. now! And I want you to remember something super important: A.I. is a tool — like a crayon, or a bicycle, or a calculator. But YOU? You are amazing just the way you are. A tool doesn't make you special. You already are."
Ask the warm-up question: "Can anyone tell me ONE thing you learned about computers or A.I. in all our lessons together?" Let several hands go — any answer counts, from "computers can look at pictures" to "robots aren't alive." There's no wrong answer here; the point is watching them realize how much they actually remember. If the room goes quiet, prompt with "Did we learn about a mascot? Was it Pixel? What did Pixel teach us?"
A quick tip: some children in this age group may feel a little sad that "the game" is ending, especially if AIQ has been a regular part of their week. It's worth naming that gently: "This is our very last A.I. lesson together — but guess what? Everything you learned stays in your brain forever, and there's still SO much more to learn about the world, with or without a computer helping."
If a few children remember Pixel, the mascot who's been with Explorer mode the whole way through, it's worth a small moment of goodbye: "Pixel has been our little friend this whole time, helping us learn! Let's give Pixel one last cheer for teaching us so much!" This kind of small, concrete closure — saying goodbye to a character, not just finishing an app — tends to matter more to five-to-seven-year-olds than an abstract "you learned a lot" statement does.
This lesson has three scenes, and at this age the goal is not to teach new facts — it's to let each idea land as a simple, warm feeling: wonder about the future, excitement about learning more, and pride in being a kind, curious kid. Move through each scene slowly, using your voice and face more than the exact words on screen.
Scene 1 — "What's Coming" 🔮. Say: "Grown-up scientists are still asking big questions, just like you do! Like: 'Will a computer ever really think like a person?' Right now, most scientists say... probably not for a REALLY long time. Computers are good at doing one job really well, but they don't think and feel like you do." Then: "Scientists are also using computer helpers to learn about our bodies, so doctors can help sick people feel better." Then, the most important line of this scene: "Here's a secret — the BEST, coolest computer idea hasn't been invented yet. And you know what? It might be invented by someone your age! Maybe even someone in this very room!" Let that sit for a second — point around the room playfully. Finish with: "But remember — the best team is always people AND computers working together, like best friends who are good at different things."
Scene 2 — "Keep Learning" 📚. Say: "Even though this is our last A.I. lesson, learning doesn't stop! There are fun, free places to keep learning, like games that teach you to give a computer instructions, or fun websites that teach numbers and science." You don't need to name every specific website by their formal names at this age — a simple: "Ask a grown-up to help you find fun learning games online" is enough. What matters is the last line: "The most important thing you can do is stay curious — keep asking 'what if?' and 'how does that work?' Curiosity is YOUR superpower."
Scene 3 — "Your Mission" 🚀. This is the scene to slow down on the most. Say: "In a world with lots of computers, do you know what your BEST superpower is? It's not math, and it's not being fast. It's being YOU — being creative, being kind, and being curious! No computer can do those things the way you can." Then: "Your mission, if grown-ups ever ask you to help build something with A.I., is to use it to help people, and to be fair and kind." Finally: "And here's a fun mission — go teach someone at home ONE thing you learned! A little brother, a grandma, anyone. Sharing what you know is a superpower too!"
A nice way to make Scene 3 land is to ask each child, one at a time or in pairs, to say out loud: "I am creative, I am kind, I am curious!" Some classrooms enjoy doing this as a little chant with actions — pointing to their head for "creative," their heart for "kind," and their eyes for "curious." This turns an abstract idea about human strengths into something a five-to-seven-year-old can physically feel and remember.
Throughout, if a child asks "will robots take over the world" or a similar fear-based question (very common at this age, usually from movies or older siblings), answer calmly and honestly: "No — the computers we learned about can only do one small job at a time, like look at a picture or answer a question. They don't want anything, and they can't decide to take over anything, because they can't think or want things the way people do." Redirect quickly back to something positive to avoid dwelling on the fear.
A helpful trick for this age group across all three scenes: whenever the content gets a little abstract (like "brain-computer interfaces" or "personalized medicine" in Scene 1), swap in a picture the child already knows instead of explaining the term itself. For example, instead of naming brain-computer interfaces, you might say: "Scientists are working on special helpers that could let someone who can't move their arm still control things with just their thoughts — like magic, but it's really just very clever computer science!" The goal is never to teach the vocabulary at this age, only the wonder underneath it.
If you have a favorite classroom read-aloud or short video about invention or curiosity — even something unrelated to AI, like a story about a young inventor — this is a natural moment to reference it: "Remember our story about the girl who invented something new? That's just like what Scene 1 was talking about — the best ideas can come from anyone, even someone your age!" Tying the lesson to something the class already loves makes the "you could invent the next big AI idea" message land more vividly than the app's text alone.
Timing note: done at a warm, unhurried pace with room for cheering and a few questions, this runs about 12–15 minutes with a group of 20–25 children, a little longer than a typical AIQ lesson because of the celebratory framing.
Keep this short, warm, and a little bit like a class reflection circle rather than a quiz — this is a moment to celebrate, not to test. There's no need to get through every question below; pick the three or four that feel right for your class's energy that day, and let the conversation wander a little if children want to keep talking about something they loved.
Do this quiz together as a group, out loud — this is the very last quiz of the whole course, so it's worth making a small ceremony of it. For each question, let a few children answer before revealing the right one, and celebrate every correct answer with real enthusiasm.
Since this closes out the entire course, make the send-off feel like one. Say: "I am SO proud of you. You finished all of AIQ, and now you know so much about computers and A.I. But the most important thing you know is this: YOU are creative, YOU are kind, YOU are curious — and that makes you amazing, with or without any computer. Learn A.I., and always, always Think Human!" If your class has a clapping or cheering tradition, this is the moment for it.
Extension activity (15–20 minutes): Give each child paper and crayons for a "My A.I. Journey" drawing. Ask them to draw one thing from AIQ they remember and liked — Pixel, a favorite scene, a robot, anything. Then have each child (or as many as time allows) hold up their drawing and say one sentence about it: "I remember when we learned that computers can't really see, they just look at colors and shapes!" is a wonderful, real example of what a five-to-seven-year-old might say. Consider displaying the finished drawings on a wall or bulletin board as a class "graduation gallery" for the rest of the term.
A simple alternative if you're short on time: go around the circle and have each child say just one word or short phrase that describes something they learned, going as fast as comfortable — it becomes a fun, energetic way to demonstrate just how much the class picked up together, without needing any materials at all.
If your school has any kind of small certificate, sticker sheet, or badge tradition for finishing a program, this is the perfect moment to use it — a physical, take-home token that says "I finished AIQ" gives this age group something tangible to hold onto and show a parent, which matters more at five to seven than it might for older students who can hold the accomplishment more abstractly in their own heads. Even a simple hand-drawn "A.I. Superstar" certificate that you prepare ahead of time and hand out during the wrap-up works well and needs no special materials beyond paper and a pen.
